Global Concern respects and appreciates our donors/supporters and considers it of great importance that donors’ rights are respected and their privacy protected.
Personal information from donors/supporters is given in good faith that the information will only be used to maintain or enhance their correspondence with Global Concern and its programs.
Global Concern is committed to ensuring the privacy of the information you provide to us. It is a requirement oF the National Privacy Principle established in the Privacy Amendment (Privacy Sector) Act 2000, that you be informed about the donor process and how we may use the information you provide.

What Information is Collected?
Contact information such as name, postal address, phone numbers and email is collected.
Financial information such as bank / credit card details is also collected and used to process transactions.
Other information that is collected, is done so with your full consent and you may always decline to provide this to us.
Personal information of donors/supporters is only collected when necessary and is supplied upon request of the donor/supporter.
Each sponsor and donor is given a unique supporter number under which personal details are kept. This number and other details are used to verify an individual.
Individuals or groups can donate, receive general information and /or make an enquiry anonymously.
Any hard copy or online surveys, to gain donor/supporter feedback, can be completed anonymously.
How do we collect the information?
Some of the ways we collect information are below.
Directly from you when you provide information through post, telephone, fax, reply slips, donations, via the Global Concern website, at an event and all forms used by Global Concern.
From publicly available sources
From our own records according to your level of interaction with us and your donation history.
From credit card providers where we seek your information for authorisation of your payment.
When we are legally required to do so by law and police checks for overseas travel to visit project/ sponsored child.
Why we collect the information and how is it used?
Personal details are required to process and post a receipt, magazine or letter, to link a sponsor with a child, send new or updated child information, establish periodic payments, and maintain the relationship between Global Concern and its donors/supporters.
Information is also used to process donations and gifts, issue receipts, provide information to you, seek your support and for internal reporting purposes.
Global Concern will use the individual’s personal information for the purposes for which it was given.
If the information is not sensitive information, Global Concern may use the mailing lists to invite individuals to functions.
Protection of Information
Global Concern has in place sufficient means to safeguard the personal information of all donors/supporters. All computers are password protected and the office premises have security monitoring and an alarm system. Supporters’ information is kept both in hard copy and electronic forms. In either case, Global Concern has documented procedures to guard this information.
Global Concern has also verified the security and privacy provisions of other organizations with whom we provide information about supporters.
Other third parties may be our accountants and auditors or when required by law police checks for overseas program/child sponsor visitations
Global Concern will not rent, exchange or sell mailing lists of our supporters to other organizations.
The information we collect is always treated as strictly confidential and is never disclosed to a third party without your prior consent, unless required by law.
We never make our database available to other organisations
Holding /Storage of Information
If you have made a donation to Global Concern and have been issued with a receipt for taxation purposes, by law we must keep a record of your details for 7 (seven) years.
Internet and Our Website
The Global Concern website www.globalconern.org.au may contain links to other websites who may or may not adhere to a privacy policy or be governed by the National Privacy Principles.
Also other sites may have links to our website. In any case we are only responsible for the content and privacy practices of our own website.
Global Concern analyses the logs of website information to improve the details and services available on line. Information from these website log details is not personally identifiable.
Prospective donors/sponsors, who are looking at becoming involved, can visit our web site anonymously.
Secure Socket Layer (SSL) Encryption is used when collecting or transferring credit card information via the internet, ensuring a secure environment for the transfer of your confidential data from your browser to our financial institution using the latest encryption technology.
For those who do not wish to use the Internet, Global Concern provides other alternatives to online donations and completing of forms. Global Concern provides all application forms and donation forms in downloadable, printable form and forms can also be requested by non electronic means.

Opting out of further correspondence
If you do not wish to receive any further information on Global Concern or to be contacted about our work you may contact our office directly to cancel any further communications; by phone, email, fax or in person.
Please list your name, address and /or donor number.
Upon receiving these details we will ensure that you are removed from our secure donors list.
Access and Correction of Information
It is our policy to give access to our supporters to the information we hold regarding them. This is consistent with our commitment to transparency. You may access your information at any time. If you would like to know what information we hold, please contact our office. (See contact details)
Correcting Information
Global Concern is committed to following up suggestions about the correction of incorrect or outdated information.
If you discover your information is incorrect and out of date please notify us and we will try to correct or add the updated information as soon as possible.
