Volunteering with Every Home Global Concern has been a really positive experience in which I have improved my skills and tried to do something concrete for those in need.I tried to identify possible donors and I wrote to them explaining Global Concern’s projects in Africa. At the same time I tried to raise money running in the City 2 Surf in Sydney!

Volunteering at Global Concern
“For me poverty is something that I hear about at church, at work, in the newspapers, on the television and in discussion with friends. But what can I do about it? I live in Australia and things are pretty good here in comparison to other places in the world. Poverty is something I want to help with but didn’t know how. Then I meet Aaron from Global Concern. He let me know what he was doing to help stop poverty in the world and I was intrigued. Maybe I could help as well.
Aaron and I got together and he explained to me what Global Concern was doing. How for thirty years they had been working in countries all around the world to help people in extreme circumstances to be able to change their world. I wanted to help!
I decided to help out in the Global Concern office every Friday afternoon. My role was to collate statistics for the villages Global Concern was working with in Zambia and Malawi. It was amazing to see the difference that Global Concern was making to a large amount of people. The average salary had gone up, disease was going down and people’s standard of living was increasing phenomenally. It was amazing to have the opportunity to help in this area and to see that it was helping people on the other side of the world from me to have a better life. The cycle of poverty is being broken.
Thank you Global Concern for giving me this opportunity.”
